I know he was an equal-opportunity joker about Dems and Repukes when he was on the air, but I recall reading some rather scathing comments he made about the Chimp in the past few years. Can't recall where or when, but I know he really hated Dumbo.
RIP, Johnny, you obviously knew a bad thing when you saw it!
