Our yard man, John, is good people. We've had lean times for a while, and in the spring we told him we would have to pay for his services as we could, that is, if he could continue to do our yard work with those terms. He said "no problem" and took care of our yard all spring & summer w/ no complaint about our payment schedule. We still owe him a little.
But do you know what? He was just here and he plowed our driveway and shoveled our stairs. Damn . . . John is good people.
Who are the good people in your life?

We get along like a house afire (Virgo-Capricorn thing). She's always supportive and there when you need her.
Also almost all of my husband's friends. They're Pakistani and are taught from a young age to "walk the walk" when it comes to hospitality and helping their friends and family.

5. The people who work in the shops I go to |
|
who clean my office, deliver my mail and a load of other things we take for granted. They know who I am and treat me as if I'm something better than they are, just because I'm a highly-educated professional. Good people who have an inherent decency and common sense. Makes me feel like a real jerk because I know full well that I'm a deeply flawed person.
Never forget the common people, many of whom share our sense of decency and humanity.

When we had a blizzard that dumped 16 inches of snow on us I had to put in a 20 hour shift. When I got home I had to park out on the street because I could not get into my driveway. I crashed out for about 15 hours. While I was asleep my mom and dad came over with their snow blower and dug out my driveway and the walk leading up to my house.
That's just the latest good thing they have done for me. If I were to write all the good stuff that they've done for me it would take a book.

9. Gosh, There Are Too Many To Enumerate |
|
Father Downing would have to be up at the top of the list. He is rector at Saint James Capitol Hill, and he is everything a minister should be. The parishioners at Saint James are wonderful, loving people, who live the message of a loving God.
I am blessed to work with wonderful, caring, supportive, kind people. To a person, any of them would do anything to help any member of the team.
My mom and dad, Southern Baptists, accept and love me as I am, as do my brothers and my nephew and niece. My parents taught me the joy of helping those less fortunate. They taught me that an act of kindness, no matter how small, is never wasted. They also taught me to have the courage of my convictions, and that honesty and fairness are the foundations for happiness, not money.
Bertha's sisters have taken me in to the fold, and they have given me their love and encouragement.
I'd have to say I am blessed beyond measure.
