Any home remedy ways to get rid of ice?

I just poured some ice melting stuff on my driveway, I'm thinking it's going to do minimal good and I should have bought more. My driveway is not on an incline, but I didn't have the good sense to back in. The town plower did a piss poor job because my neighbors parked in the street (I didn't have enough room to do that as well).

It's not going to get up to 32 tonight, so is there anything else I can try tomorrow morning? I should be fine, right, if I back out superslow?

1. Sand or cat litter won't melt it, but will keep you from sliding

and breaking your neck.

4. Just don't get clay cat litter

When the snow melts it is a real mess! You get chunks of clay in your driveway which can be just as slippery as the snow. Plus, it gets on your shoes and goes with you where ever you go.

If you're using cat litter, make sure it's gritty and not scoopable. That clumps too well when wet.

Can I just put a bit (which I guess will mean it won't work?)?

14. You can use it, it will stop you from slipping

but be prepared to clean it up as the snow melts or you will find it everywhere -- in the carpet in your car, on the back of your pants because it was on your shoe and you forget and sat on your foot, on the carpet in the house, ... or worse, it gets on your shoe and makes you slip on a dry floor inside.

Use it, but be ready to "scoop it" out of the driveway when it gets wet.

Of course one would have to have gallons of vodka to use as much ice as our fellow DU'er has on the drive.

make sure you don't get the salt on the car, not great for the paint job on the car!!!

12. my eco-friendly ice melter for sunny days

black oil sunflower seeds. While setting it out for my feathered pals, I noticed the ice around the black seeds melted up faster. Guess the black draws in heat instead of reflecting it back like the white packed snow/ice does.

We have some concrete in front of the house and it gets pretty slick. The sunflower seeds seem to draw in enough heat to melt the surface and pit the ice. Less slick and my pals are happy out there.

Now, I would like suggestions about keeping some water thawed for the birds. I live in Montana. ;)

on the other hand if you have a pet baboon, the 'boon will be happy to pick all the nits off you.
