1. I'd ask about Richard Gere
But that might get the thread locked.

9. I'm actor-stupid.
I recognize the name but that's about it, so I probably wouldn't be able to answer the question anyway. He IS an actor, right?

8. I spoil them
I make them big cages to live in and small cages so I can travel with them, plus storing their food and their balls that they run through the house in, plus two bags of bedding (I mix aspen and carefresh bedding plus toilet paper so they have some variety) plus medicine for when they get sick, plus some other random crap. No room for any more!

Colota (means "big tail" in spanish, she has a little tail so we're working on her self esteem)

12. hamsters are better, IMO
Hamsters- nocturnal, cuter, short tail.
Gerbils- sleep at night, long gross tail

13. hamsters are pretty much
anti-social. i've had several same and mix gender pairs, and have found that there is no way to keep a pair of hamsters in the same cage without one of them becoming dominant and either killing the other one, or starving it. they don't tolerate long-periods of being handled, and they bite like hell. they only live about two years, so it will break your heart when they spend less and less time on the hamster wheel, and then one day end up stiff and dead in their burrow. it hurts.

gerbils are more sociable, and easier to tame.

i would recommend a hamster though. i built a four by six foot cage for my last one, who was difficult to tame. i dropped in coke boxes, paper towel rolls, paper confetti, and just about anything wooden or paper to see what kind of elaborate nest he would construct.

17. Hamsters can be hard to tame,
but it definately can be done. I work at an elementary school and take both of my hamsters in sometimes. Even the kids can handle my hamsters without getting bitten. I think even I'd bite them sometimes, but my hamsters are great with them. It's amazing. And this is even during the day when they'd rather be sleeping!

15. We have 4 blackberry dwarf hamsters, the dwarfs prefer to live together
the larger "teddy bears" are solitary.

16. I don't,
My hamsters are syrian hamsters, which are very territorial and can't be kept in the same cage once they are adults. Dwarf hamsters of the same gender often can be kept together, but even then it is with caution because sometimes they'll just randomly decide they hate each other and try to eat the other one. I've seen it happen. I chose syrian hamsters b/c they're bigger and easier to tame. Both mine are females.
