Son of a bitch! I'm missing two fish this morning.
I bought four red-tailed sharks and four moonlight-guaramis yesterday. I put them in my quarantine tank, and I just went in to feed them this morning, and two of the red-tails are missing! No body parts, no sign of a vicious overnight feeding at all.

I searched all over the floor looking for them, and I looked in the filter.

Where the hell are they? Could six other fish have totally consumed these two fish so as to leave not a bit of flesh at all? Especially considering that I WAS feeding them yesterday?

The fish store assured me these were compatible, and compatible with my other fish. The only warning they offered was that red tails need to be kept in a group, not alone.

ARGH!!!!!

4. No, definitely not hiding!
I pulled all the plants, just to be sure (and also to look for body parts).

3. Yes
i have 1 fish 1 one uno thats it. lol

she is a tiny little fish and i can put a shark in there and she would eat it.

so she stays alone just like me. we like our privacy and want our bedrooms all to ourselves. you can visit but you can not stay!!!

lol i am so sorry about your fish. i know how you feel.

my fish should not be eating other fish - its not normal - i have never cought her but fish dont disapear and she is the only one left the next morning. and it happens all the time.

but my friends insist that my fish needs a friend and bring fish over! lol only to find them gone withen a few days.

by the way there is never a sign. i dont know how its done. its too weird. either keep the crazy canibal when you find her like i did (they never die) or flush her.

7. Hmmm...maybe one of my fish is a nasty little cannibal
That would suck. I don't relish the idea of having to lose all my fish before I find out which is the bad one.

Which leaves me with the dilemma of maybe having to decide to flush 'em all, since that would be cheaper than letting them eat the others.

ARGH!!

10. guaramis can be aggressive
I've had gauramis eat my other fish many times.I never find any bones until I remove the gravel, its usually buried in there some where.

We had one once who ate so many of my fish that I put him in with 4 Parana him and 3 of the Parana ganged up on the other one and ate him.
Look at the fins on the other fish, see if they are missing small pieces.

13. Wow - here and I thought gouramis were supposed to be peaceful
until they were spawning.

Damned things. I don't mind cannibla fish - they have all right to exist - but it would be nice to know beforehand...

17. Some can be a problem
And some are docile. You usually don't know for sure until about 50 dollars worth of fish are gone, thats how it works here anyway.

19. Same thing I was going to say
Gouramis tended to be the only thing left in the tank. We finally got tired of buying fish and called the aquarium quits.

15. The sharks ate 'em, hun.
I bought a type of catfish called a tiger catfish once that I was assured would be compatible, too. My other schooled fish kept disappearing, just one here or there. A mystery...couldn't be the catfish, they just eat the detritus to keep the tank clean, right?

Finally one day, I saw one of the catfish swimming, and through it's white underbelly, I saw the darker color of its last meal.

Mystery solved!

I love guaramies...they are cool fish. I like the blues a lot, bigger the better.

18. I wouldn't hesitate to check around Bil Frist's place.
He often steals fish like that to lure cats into his yard.
