You might get more sympathy at the other site. That's where the compassionate conservatives hang out.

J/K. Hope you are okay.

21. Well, that is true.
When I fell down the stairs about a month ago, my kids laughed and laughed and laughed. Seriously, they did. My eldest couldn't help me until she put up an away message, and when I fell I broke all the Christmas stuff I had been carrying down from the storage room.

19. oh man, that's even worse
and I know it happened in slow motion too.

It's like time stands still.

In college I once fell down the steps at the student union. Nothing like a wipeout in front of your peers.

You'll recover. ;)

22. Poor you!!!
I did almost exactly the same thing Saturday morning - only it was on moss on my patio in my own stupid backyard. Now I know why kids scream so much when they skin their knees - it freaking HURTS. My knee and hip feel all out of joint too.

I've been icing it and taking Advil for the swelling. It still hurts today, but it's feeling slightly better.

Hope you're on the mend soon. Sorry about your mishap.

26. We're all lucky when we don't break a hip
(I've known people in their 20s who have done it - it sucks at any age...) Yeah, I'm 36 and haven't taken a tumble like this in a long time, so I was wondering, "Will I be able to get out of bed tomorrow?" and stuff like that. Fortunately, I'm strong and in good shape, but I'm still icing it.

I can't believe people just walked past you. That is so totally rude... :grr: I would have helped you, of course!!! :D

28. You know I have had experiences like that too..
when I was little and living with my adoptive parents they were beating me and he raped me, I was only 7..... I tried to tell someone what was happening and instead of going to the police... they told my parents. So they stood me in the garage covered with gas and threatened to burn me alive if I ever told again. I know teachers and people saw the bruises and the constant look of terror on my face... but no one helped.. not one person.

In contrast, as an adult trying to heal, I have come across many extremely generous, loving people who have helped me heal from it and given me their time and support ... many free of charge because I have been so debilitated from flashbacks it's hard to work. It's helped renew my faith in people. Basically it's a polarity issue, there are people at both ends of the spectrum and you have to be able to hold an awareness of both but be mindful of the type of people you would rather draw to you.

And in conclusion I would like to say... mean people suck! ;)
