gyro is the greek word for it, so yes, it usually has a favorite greek meat. but substitute a different meat and it's still a gyro.

Catfish or Crawfish or Roast Beef or "Ersters" or you name it. Dressed, of course with Mayo and tomatoes and lettuce and onions and peppers and hot sauce served with a side of fries and an ice cold beer preferably on a balcony overlooking Bourbon Street while the pounding Cajun beat fills the air. I'll pass on a Hoagie, thank you.
