Geography Buffs-Can you answer this? |
|
Can anyone tell me if it is a reasonable assumption that the tsunami will cause the Indian ocean and coastlines to be re-surveyed and ultimately changed on globes? Or were the changes too small to register on a world globe? I asked this question of a national map and globemaker (not Rand McNally) and they laughed at me. Help is appreciated.

1. No, there will be no changes to the world map. |

Some local features will be altered, but on a very small scale. Parts of the ocean floor will need to be re-surveyed, but that happens on a regular basis, especially around fault lines.
I suppose the size of local cities will be affected, in terms of population, in the short term.
