Aggh! Problem with Firefox |
|
Every couple of days my Firefox has been giving me messages to create a new profile instead of just opening up the window in the default profile. So, in a fit of anger, I pressed the button to delete the default profile. They didn't even give me a "are you sure you want to do this" warning and now my favorites and my extensions are gone!
Is there anyway to Undo all of this? I was very happy with that default profile. And, also, is there anyway to stop it from asking me if I want to set up another profile?

I've never had Firefox ask me that about a 'default profile' at all.
Sorry--if I knew, I'd tell ya, Kire. Good luck. Someone here will know.

3. Firefox has seizures or convulsions or something |
|
I just kept hitting "cancel" when it tried to do that to me, and it went away.
But, if you go to My Documents, and start going through all those files - My Pictures, etc. - you might find one called "My Favorites" or "Favorites," and it will contain all your bookmarks.
As for the extensions, I think you'll have to go back to Firefox and download them.
My webmaster geek god tells me it does the same thing to him periodically, so make sure you save your stuff. I stash mine in IE, oddly enough, and they're safe there, even if Firefox - which I honestly love - has another grand mal.
Good luck.
And, try to think of it as a wonderful opportunity to simplify ....... :)

I've deleted and done a clean install. The favourites are there waiting for me. You can re-import faves, cookie and passwords too.

5. Not so sure about Firefox, but Mozilla suite does that |
|
if I launch it, and then launch it a second time without closing the first instance. The second time it is launched it can tell that the profile is in use and asks me if I want to create a new one.
I managed to lose some emails by fucking up this way once; fortunately it was only a few.

7. this'll help for next time, but... |
|
...I'm afraid I've scoured my hard drive and I can't find any of my favorites whatsoever.
I even uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it like someone suggested, but the only thing that was "waiting for me" was the favorites I had just imported from IE (at least I have that)
thanks to everyone for all the help
