Auschwitz: Inside the Nazi State
on PBS.

Part One was on last week.

Part 2 of 3 airs Wednesday night @ 9 eastern.

It chronicles the planning stages of Auschwitz from its inception. It seems more like a movie than a documentary.

Riveting.

Must see TV.

2. I saw Part I and am looking forward to Part II
I found it very interesting. They interviewed a couple of former guards who to this day don't feel that what they were involved in was wrong. One former guard cheerfully pointed out how he helped himself to the prisoners' last personal possessions. They show a lot of footage that has never been released to the public before.

3. I saw that old man bragging, too
as well as the other man who kept insisting that Jews were bad, even tho they never, ever did anything to him.

4. Some of the people interviewed by Claud Lanzmann for Shoah
didn't express any remorse at the events of the Holocaust.

I met a Polish priest (wonderful man by the way, he works on interfaith issues) who lives on Poland. He said that Polish/Jewish relations, such that they are in a Poland almost bereft of Jews, oscillates from extreme antisemitism (with few or no Jews around in a country where they were once a sizeable minority) to philosemitism.

This documentary comes out on DVD in March...
