6. I would love to see him win, but |

I really feel that Jamie Foxx has this one locked up. A close second to him is Leo D. He was pretty darn good as Hughes. I would personally love to see Jim Carrey nominated for Eternal Sunshine. I thought he was fantastic and he never gets his due from the Hollywood establishment. It's going to be a super tight race for males this year.
For the females, I can only think of 3: Kate Winslet, either for Finding Neverland or Eternal Sunshine; Annette Benning - Being Julia; and Hilary Swank - Million Dollar Baby. Oh, possibly chick from Vera Drake (although I didn't get to see it - it didn't play anywhere near me. I don't even think it came to this state. Imagine that - a pro-choice movie not playing in the Bible Belt).
I do hope Cate Blanchett has a lock on Supporting Actress this year. I'm still pissed that they freakin' gave the Best Actress win to Gwyneth over Cate (for her stunning performance as Elizabeth I).
It's sad that I'm so pysched for this, but hey - this is my Superbowl. Bring on the awards..........

7. Kate Winslet has been nominated a bunch of times and not won |
|
They might give her the "cumulative" Oscar.
And you're right - Cate B. was robbed that year!

There is an outside chance that Cloris Leachman might get a Best Supporting nod for "Spanglish". I would love to see her get another nomination. It's been over 30 years when she nominated and won for "The Last Picture Show".

Go make a speech. Tears and everything. Hell, I used to use my hairbrush as the Oscar.

18. I have one of those plastic "Oscars" |
|
Back when you could greet people at the airport gate, we used to hand it out like lai's in Hawaii. A little Hollywood tradition.
I actually held a REAL Oscar. I could kick myself for not getting my pictre taken with it. I held an Emmy too!

and rightfully so-what an incredible performance in Ray. I'm already tearing up thinking about his acceptance speech for his Grandma.

I think he's a lock of the Oscar itself, not just a nomination.

17. It's too bad...he wasn't really acting... |
|
He just imitated Ray Charles for 2 hours. I mean he was good - but that's not acting, it's imitating. Everyone on SNL deserves an Oscar if he gets one!
I suppose you could argue the same is true for Leonardo, but he didn't have as much to imitate since Hughes made few public appearances after a certain point.
