Johnny Carson, Mom, and Dad

I suppose this means nothing, but I noticed a coincidence linking my parents' marriage to Johnny Carson. It's kind of cool, even if it has no weight or meaning outside of itself.

When Carson took over 'The Tonight Show' in early October 1962, my Dad and Mom were watching him at my Mom's parents' house. They had been dating since the summer, and my Dad decided right there, while Carson was starting his amazing 30+ year run on 'The Tonight Show', to turn to to my Mom and ask, "How would you like to grow old together?"

The married the following January.

Yesterday, Johnny Carson died on my Mom and Dad's 42nd wedding anniversary.

We always liked Carson in my family, so this is just one of the (odd) ways he felt like a member of the household, the way he did to millions over the decades.

Goodbye Johnny.

Congrats to my Mom and Dad.

....gotta get a frame for that poster..tried puttin' it on my fridge with magnets but it's too heavy...don't have any velcro for the thingy's on the back...but figured I'd frame it instead so it won't get nicotine stained...sigh! :)
