5. I thought a slam was coming with the "MF" company too |
|
After all, a past season had large corporations trying to start a war in the ME for oil........no similarities to real life there
There was also a very interesting twist at the end, that I somewhat suspected based on that person's mannerisms....

8. That's what I was saying too (SPOILER for our west coast friends) |
|
I had her pegged too, especially with the way she manipulated Curtis and the white computer guy (Edwin?). They also showed her acting very furtively, which only reinforced my suspicions. It didn't surprise me that much, but was still a pretty big twist. I also thought that the "MF" company might be a part of some bigger plot, like an oil company stirring stuff up in the ME.

by now if you live on the West Coast ) the series does rely on the nuclear stuff too much, IMO.

16. My tolerance for this season is dropping. |
|
Especially with the Fox News segments (they used to use a fictional news channel) and the mention of the Heritage Foundation. But I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if that defense contractor is behind the nuke meltdown plot. I still say Secretary Heller is two-faced.

18. They always used Fox News |
|
And what's wrong with the Heritage Foundation reference? It's a RW think tank. They used a Micheal Moore reference too.
You cold say it's lazy writing, but it's also current, so maybe they want to make it as real as possible for a fictional TV action show.

13. Yeah, I'm very interested to see how that angle works out (spoiler again) |
|
IMO (also based on the trailer), Beruz (no idea how to spell it, so I'll go with yours) and Dina look like they might regret what they've done and get in Naivi's way. I think the poor kid (Beruz) just snapped, especially once he realized his dad sold him out for "their cause". Curtis' ex (younger black woman who is working with Naivi, can't remember her name) is another very interesting angle. I thought the show had slipped since season 1, but this year has been very good so far.

I think he'll end up being the sympathetic character, who helps Bauer and friends in the end. His dad is definitely a scary guy.

20. The heroic SecDef authorizing torture on his leftwing son |
|
Come on!
This show has devolved into a right-wing circle jerk. I still watch it for yuks, but it is highly propagandistic.
How much you want to bet that Heller's son is actually a closeted gay who told his boyfriend about the meeting with Dad (and that's why he doesn't want to reveal it.) Something about his exchange tonight when he said that they had no right to know about his personal life.
As someone who liked season one and really liked season two, I am immensely disappointed with this year's effort. It's very obvious and occasionally downright boring.

30. I can see no circumstance under which I would ever |
|
authorize torture on my son based on the vague evidence that has been presented so far.
To authorize torture based on an inconclusive lie-detector test? It's ludicrous, the entire season has been beyond ridiculous.
The terrorists kidnapping the SecDef and putting him on trial for the sole purpose of using up bandwidth so they can employ a completely sci-fi device that allows them to control every nuclear power plant in the country???
Pure Poppycock!
I mean I like escapist entertainment as much as the next guy, but this show has gone beyond implausible into unwatchable.
And if anyone wants a particularly ugly look into what this show's real hardcore fanbase is like, you should check out the 24 newsgroup. I've seen more thoughtful stuff posted on Free Republic.
I've been a fan, but for the first time since the show originally aired, I won't be watching next week. It's just become too heavy-handed.

24. Another random idea....... |
|
Sorry to bump this, but this has been nagging me. Anyone else suspicious of Audrey's husband? Seeing him talk on the cell phone made me think something was up, and he was also in LA (the flight could have been a cover). Of course, this could also just be a red herring.

But I don't think he's involved in any of the terror plot. I just think he's gonna lose it and go after Jack. Or Audrey.

That wouldn't surprise me either. He could make a great red herring and not have connections to Naifi & friends, but still snap. Now that I think about it, I'm not as sure the young black woman is necessarily a mole. They've done the CTU mole thing to death, and her character could easily be another twist. Overall I'm very pleased with this season. Season 1 was great, 2-3 slowed down some, but 4 has kept me watching.

The mole could very well be an FBI "insider". Maybe part of a cover-up attempt? Someone at the FBI fucked up, and now they want to try damage control.
Hmmmmm....we shall see.
