What cable stations would you dump?
I just noticed this article, about cable TV stations:

A La Carte Cable Would Bill Consumers Only For Selected Channels
Feds Compare Prices For A La Carte Cable Offerings

POSTED: 3:49 pm CST January 24, 2005

WASHINGTON -- Consumer advocates say choosing cable channels "a la carte" would result in cheaper bills, but the cable TV industry claims just the opposite, saying consumers would pay more, Washington Bureau reporter Sally Kidd reported.

Consumer advocates are pushing for a federal law that would force cable companies to let subscribers choose and pay for only the channels they want.

"Our studies show it would cost $1 to $2 a channel, which is a reasonable amount for consumers," Consumers Union representative Susanna Montezemolo said.

"We think moving to a mandatory a la carte system would result, for most customers, in higher prices, less choice and diminishing diversity in the programming marketplace," said Rob Stoddard, who represents the National Cable and Telecommunications Association.

Which stations would you dump?

First for me would be Fox "news."
Then that Catholic network, "EWTN."

4. Nothing really, 'cept evangelical channels.
EWTN's fine, as I'm Catholic and it can sometimes get interesting..and Fox News stays because of the free-thinking freeper dad.

I say free-thinking because he's very conservative yet voted for Clinton twice and Gore.

15. I'll go through the channels I have and make a list.
I don't necessarily bear a personal grudge against all of these networks - I simply never watch them.

PAX TV
VTN (religious channel)
Home Shopping Network
ShopNBC
Trinity Broadcasting Network
Both ESPNs - Sorry, but I don't watch them
American Movie Classics - That channel has gone to shit in a hurry
Weather Channel
Spike TV
Fox News - Need I explain why?
CMT
Headline News
CNBC
Food Network
HGTV
Travel Channel
Animal Planet
Fox Sports Network
Hallmark

Edited on Mon Jan-24-05 11:15 PM by miss_kitty
the once great, now ruined AMC (Thanks NBC for fucking it up bad :eyes:) court TV Lifetime, disney ABCFamily, any shopping bullshitfest-basically, I'd want A&E, Bravo, Comedy Central and Sci-Fi. And mostly the Comedy Central. Too ad heavy, really. and I was flabbergasted to see some of these stations that come on extended basic do INFOMERCIALS-so you pay for extra channels whose programming includes infomercials. Why I don't pay $40 per mo for extended basic.

On Edit: I would go for some no ad movie stuff, like TMC even Fox Movies, BBC America-now I'd take it too, even though they do a piss-take with that fucking advertising.

21. All the sports channels, the Spanish language channels,
the station that's always showing surgery, the shopping channels--I'm sure there are more, I'd have to look at a list. And there are a couple of stations that are only on an additional package, and I'd like to get them individually (IFC, Sundance).
