Hey Canadians, can you please explain something to me?? |
|
Edited on Mon Jan-24-05 11:20 PM by SmileyBoy
What's the deal with milk in a bag?
Why do you punt on third down?
Why do you say "Inside or to go?" in a fast food place instead of "For here or to go?"
Why do you call it "Proccessed cheese" instead of "American cheese"?
What's the deal with this crazy-ass metric system you have? (Sunny and 24 in July?)
Why do you put 12 men on the field instead of 11?
What's the deal with your health care being completely FREE?
Why do you pronounce Mazda "Maaaaz-da" instead of Mahz-da"?
Why do you pronounce garage "ga-raaaaj" instead of "ga-roj"?
What's the deal with calling it a "washroom" instead of a "restroom"?
Why do you ask if I want my sub on "white or brown" instead of "white or wheat" bread?
Why do your cable networks allow some shows to say "fuck" and "shit" after midnight?
What's the deal with scoring one point if the kicker advances the ball past the goal line with no return?
Why does 90 percent of your population live within 50 miles of our border? Are you planning an invasion?
Why do you call it "back bacon" instead of "Canadian Bacon"? Are you THAT humble?
Why is there a Tim Horton's restaurant every 2 blocks where you are?
Why do you only have 27 college football teams?
Why do you call a student being in 8th grade "In grade 8"?
Why do you have signs in French where there aren't any French people living (BC, Alberta)?
What's the deal with Poutine? And why does it taste so damn good?
And WHAT THE HELL does "Eh?" mean?? Is it some kind of secret code??
But in all seriousness, we love you guys. I wish our country could be more like yours. And that's the truth.
You crazy Canucks, you.:loveya:

Milk in a bag is just something someone started doing and kept doing Real men only need three downs
The phrase "Inside or to go" is regional I grew up in a "Here or to go" place. Other places say "TO stay or to go"
We call it processed to boycott the war
Metric is much easier to use, and the US is like the ONLY nation that doesn't use it.
12 men because someone's mom always forces it so someone's little brother can play.
Health isn't 100 per cent free... we pay small premiums
"Maaazda" again regional accent
Same with Garage
Cause the opposite of white is not "wheat" and we assume all bread is made from wheat anyway
After midnight? You can swear anytime. And they'll shoiw porn on some channels after midnight
The rouge is a tradition is all
We live close for trade purposes..plus it's dang cold up north
We call it "Backbacon"
I grew up in Vancouver - where Tim Hortons is hated
We don't have "College" we have university...but footballisn't crazy popular so..that's why
We wash in those rooms...we don't just pee and leave
Cause it's the 8th grade
Alberta has French towns and Vancouver has a french distict...but Highways "Trans Canada" are federal - and legally must be bi-lingual
Puotine is our way of tempting fate.
Eh..eh's eh

What's the deal with milk in a bag? The tetra packs don't fit the pitchers.
Why do you punt on third down? We only HAVE three downs. Makes for MUCH more exciting football than that game you guys worship every January!
Why do you say "Inside or to go?" in a fast food place instead of "For here or to go?" They don't do that where I live.
Why do you call it "Proccessed cheese" instead of "American cheese"? It's processed in Canada?
What's the deal with this crazy-ass metric system you have? (Sunny and 24 in July?) For Canadians, math is hard. Actually, I think you guys are about the only ones left who DON'T use metric.
What's the deal with your health care being completely FREE? It's not. My employer pays for it, and when I was under contract with another company, I paid premiums of about $100/month for my wife and me.
Why do you pronounce Mazda "Maaaaz-da" instead of Mahz-da"? You say potato.
Why do you pronounce garage "ga-raaaaj" instead of "ga-roj"? I say potato.
What's the deal with calling it a "washroom" instead of a "restroom"? We don't rest in our public toilets. Are yours that comfy?
Why does 90 percent of your population live within 50 miles of our border? Are you planning an invasion? Try living that far north sometime.
Why do you call it "back bacon" instead of "Canadian Bacon"? Are you THAT humble? 'Cause it's from the pig's fuckin' back?
Why is there a Tim Horton's restaurant every 2 blocks where you are? There isn't, but in Vancouver there's a Starbucks on every block. Thanks a lot.
Why do you have signs in French where there aren't any French people living (BC, Alberta)? I haven't got a flamesuit effective enough to answer.
What's the deal with Poutine? And why does it taste so damn good? I think you answered your own question.
And WHAT THE HELL does "Eh?" mean?? Is it some kind of secret code?? I don't know. We don't really use it that much.

I remember, way back in about 1976 in Edmonton, the CBC interviewed the local peeler entrepreneur, Pierre of "Chez Pierre" and afterwards had the contestants for Miss Nude Edmonton parade around in absolutely nothing for a couple of minutes.
This was during the dinner-hour newscast!
I do believe they received some complaints. None were from me. :)
