Natalie Imbruglia......
Torn is a great song.

Say what you will about the Australian Waif. but this song is timeless, heart wretching and well constructed....

A pure piece of pop genius.......

1. I always hate it
when someone puts out a good song like "Torn" then just vanishes.

8. a friend of mine and I were discussing her recently
(in regard to a PBS music special she was on) and that was the only line to the song that him and I both knew.

4. Giving herself over to her love, taking a chance and then
not having it reciprocated......

She is shammed about being shammed by her shallow lover......

A little girls fantasies about love destroyed by adult love...................

We all know how it is, putting it all in there the first time...

The cynical walk away, the romantic take heart and crave love again for the believe when it is right it will release all the pain of previous affairs....

At least that's me....

Also, the haunting guitar.....

10. okay, we are pretty much on the same page...
I thought, from the first time I heard it, that she was talking about losing her virginity, and he walks away immediately afterwards, leaving her. A friend of mine heartily disagrees, says it is about a mature relationship.

I really like it, I wish she had more out. I never did get the CD, is it any good?

5. She's another product of the "Neighbours" phenomenon...
it's an inocuous little Australian soap opera, but it has an incredible record of churning out singing and acting stars. There are several popular artists who trace their origins to "Neighbours":

- Kylie Minogue (probably the number 1 female singing artist in the UK... a huge star over there.)

- Jason Donovan - Australian/UK pop idol of the 80's, now an established tv and movie actor.

- Holly Valance - had several top 10 hits in the UK.

- Craig McLachlan - also had singing and acting success in UK

- Guy Pearce - starred in LA Confidential, Priscilla Queen of the Desert

- Natalie Imbruglia...

6. Natalie Imbruglia, lying naked on the floor...
with a loaf of bread, a jug of wine, and the TV remote.

Why is this woman having to NARRATE Maybelline commercials now?

7. I always caught grief for saying that...
Although that is not actually her song so I'm not sure she deserves any credit.

9. She looked amazing in that cheezy spy movie w/ Mr. Bean
I wish she had the long hair back in the day. IMO she blows away Brittney, Christina, Jessica and Ashley, Duff, Lohan and all these teenybopper pop stars.

Didn't Torn get song of the millenium on some (Casey Casem?) radio show?

11. she didn't write that song
I forget the name of the girl who did, but it was actually covered by about 3 different artists before Natalie did it and it made it to mainstream radio.

she is cute, just not really original

12. No, it's dreadful.
And a cover.

Her career was pretty short.
I wasn't surprised.
The words 'talentless hack trading on looks' spring to mind.

13. I like it.
I bought her first album on the strength of it. "Impressed" is also a good song from the album; why it was never released as a single is beyond me.

The album was so-so.
