5. Ah, the daily Napoleon thread.
I shall respond with a gratuitous Napoleon quote.

Uncle Rico: So what do you think?
Kip: It's pretty cool, I guess.
Uncle Rico: Ohhhh, man I wish I could go back in time. I'd take state.
Napoleon Dynamite: This is pretty much the worst video ever made.
Kip: Napoleon, like anyone can even know that.
Uncle Rico: You know what, Napoleon? You can leave.
Napoleon Dynamite: You guys are retarded!

6. "I wish you'd get out of my life and SHUT UP!!!
"Pedro offers you his protection."

That movie rules. Not smug or pretentious at all.

9. Wes Anderson wannabe clap-trap
that was kind of funny here and there. Very forgettable IMO. I have to be careful because lots of people think it was brilliant. ;)

11. I'm with you. Overrated, but still kind of funny.
The only scene I REALLY laughed at was Napolean dancing after Pedro's speech. He was just so into it that you can't help but laugh.

15. I'm with you....total wannabe Anderson material...
There were funny parts and it was short enough so as to not wear out it's welcome. But nowhere near as funny as the trucker cap, "Jesus Is My Homeboy" crowd would have you believe.

The uncle filming himself throwing football passes did make me laugh though.

24. Short....
It was one of the longest movies I sat through this year.....

The movie tried way too hard to be so cool......

Maybe I'm getting old but I thought Garden State, which was kind of in the same vien, was much much better......

14. As freakish as the characters were, they were real.

Much more so than the beautiful, "alienated" youth that populate most teen films. Even the "indies."

That could have been my high school, a long time ago.

Funny film. But also oddly gentle, and true.

17. It's slow-moving the first time you see it. Funnier on repeated viewings.
And the more I watch it, the more I like its minimalistic approach, where a lot of things are implied and quietly understated, an approach that is the exception rather than the rule for most movies.

What's more, Napoleon reminds me of one of my best friends in high school.

20. people criticize this film for being wes anderson wannabe crap..
and what's so wrong with emulating Anderson's work is what I would like to know? I wish more writers would do that. With so many lousy movies and bullshit remakes being released, I found this film to be quite refreshing.
