what was the price of gas back in 1999? |
|
To really figure out how far my dollar will go now, compared to 1999, I'm trying to figure out how much a gallon of gas was in 1999.
thanks for any info!

It was around the time I bought my first car. The local Sheetz was involved a price war with the other stations, so gas was super cheap (not to mention gas prices nationwide were cheap). I filled up my tank (which was 18 gallons) on about $13. Those were the days...

I remember in and around Austin it was in the mid $1.30's. Then, as 2000 was ushered in, it started to increase slightly for awhile. I had to commute out of town for my job for the last half of '99 and the first half of '00, so I definitely remember watching it. It seemed to stick around $1.34----1.36 for a long while, then it started to steadily increase.
