|
happened at woke. Tib & Fib plus dislocation....now plated and screwed together. Not to good with crutches so I have to choose which floor in the house I want to be on...I'm out for a long recuperation period, surgeon say 12-16 weeks, he still has to put a cast on in a couple of weeks.

7. Sorry about your accident |

Ask your doctor for a referral for crutch walking instruction from a physical therapist. It really does help! Be careful with the crutches on ice and snow. Take all loose rugs up off your floors for the duration.

8. Ouch! I hope you recover quickly |

12-16 weeks should give you some practice on the crutches, anyway. As you heel, you may be able to get around a little better.

9. You're going to feel the effects of that injury for the rest of your life. |

I had a similar thing happen in 1992, and things haven't been the same since. I also had a break, with a dislocation. There will always be weakness, and there will always be pain. Stretching, and exercise will be important in your recovery, once the cast comes off.

with crutches very quickly. As a male, you should have decent upper body strength.
I managed to break an ankle when I was seven and a half months pregnant with my first child. Talk about an adventure! Because I weighed a good 35 pounds above my normal weight, I quickly developed a tendinitis in my elbows from trying to haul all that weight around. And because my center of gravity was constantly changing, every so often I'd fall and scare the bejeesus out of anyone nearby.
It certainly did distract me from the normal inconveniences of pregnancy.

I hope it heals quickly and completely for you.
I broke mine a year ago last March in two places and broke a bone in my foot. It's healed just fine. It's not easy at first but it does get better.
