Were you one of those "Marlins suck" people?
Edited on Wed Jan-26-05 01:20 AM by RagingInMiami
Two World Series wins in 12 years of existence with a strong possibility of winning a third this year. And we don't even have a stadium yet.

2. I was disappointed when the team was totally dismantled
after the first WS win. What a way for ownership to treat the fans. The only possible owner who is nearly as bad would be Carl Pohlad, who offered up the Twins for contraction...Carl Pohlad, with all of his business interests is far richer than Steinbrenner, but is classically cheap when it comes to signing talent to the Twins.

i'm loving that we have a better winning percentage in the playoffs than the yankees and the Red Sox and we have a better rate at winning them than either team!

I can't beleive how strong our team is this year! i'm loving our chances!

after the game. I read that players took bottles of champagne and just laid out in the field and drank the night away.

14. Good for you
I saw them in their very first spring training game up in Melbourne and I saw them in their very first regular season game, in which they beat the dodgers, 6-4, I believe it was.
Before that, I was a Red Sox fan because my dad was an orioles fan and all my friends were yankee fans. I had to go against them.
But I'm born and bred in Miami and I still haven't been to Boston so now I'm a diehard Marlins fan, although I always hold a soft spot for the red sox.

Marlins won game 1
Yanks win games 2 and 3
Marlins win games 4-6

not much of a contest. When Cabera hit that two run homer off of clemens, you knew the marlins had it wrapped up from the beginning.

44. I have a funny story about that
During the ALCS my family and I were on vacation, and at night were hanging around the poolside bar (which had the games on TV). Most of the people at the bar were from Boston (a few from NY) and I became an honorary Sox fan those evenings. We were all running around hugging each other and high fiving everyone...but the Yankees fans went back to their rooms.

54. You know the phrase "once bitten, twice shy"?
Even with the new ownership, fans were still pissed off and skeptical. After all, the loyalty thing goes both ways. A team owner has to not only be loyal to the team, but to the community as well.
Even after the Marlins beat the Yankees, fans were still expecting the team to be dismantled.
But last year, when it was obvious the owner was going to keep the core of the team -- even though he had to get rid of pudge rodriguez -- the fans remained loyal and supported the team.
