Opening book scenarios you hope would hook the reader revisited
Edited on Wed Jan-26-05 09:11 AM by MichaelHarris
Write an opening line you hope would hook the reader, here's mine:

Some of us knew. We saw fathers and sons in the hardware stores buying supplies and the look in their eyes told us they knew. We saw women in the grocery stores buying giant-sized canned food, they also knew. We saw sporting good stores sell out of guns and ammo, someone knew. We witnessed people exchanging cash for gold and silver, and they knew. They knew their President had gone stark raving mad.

Many did not know however, we called them the “Followers”, the President had another name for them, and he chose “The Army of God”. Most of us realized the coming troubles when the President sent all of our military troops, both active and inactive overseas and then asked citizens to form militias. These militias, run by handpicked Generals would keep the peace across America; it was time for us to go underground. Divisions of these militias, named after books of the Bible, took their orders directly from Air Force One, recently named Armageddon. Our President had an agenda and it didn’t include us, our President had started the End Times and we we’re going to stop it.

It all started innocent enough, reports of journalists being paid by the Administration to promote agendas trickled through the airwaves.
