Tom Brady sues General Motors

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is suing General Motors Corp. for allegedly using his likeness in an ad after his contract with the automobile giant had expired.

Brady filed the $2 million lawsuit Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court. He also is seeking punitive damages.

According to the suit, Brady signed a contract with GM in July 2003, agreeing to autograph merchandise, make personal appearances on behalf of the company and do ads for a number of Cadillac dealerships in the Boston area.

That contract expired Jan. 1, 2004. Brady alleges that on Jan. 30, 2004, GM asked to use a print ad featuring his name and photograph in connection with that year's Super Bowl.

3. He was invited to the White House, he is not a rethug
he was seen at a party for Kerry here in Boston. If you're invited to the state of the union address, you go.

2. More info on Brady's lawsuit
LOS ANGELES (AP) - New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is suing General Motors Corp. for allegedly using his likeness in a Cadillac advertisement after his contract with the automobile giant had expired.

Cadillac issued a statement Wednesday calling the lawsuit "disappointing and shocking." Brady filed the $2-million US lawsuit Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court. He also is seeking punitive damages.

Jeff Kuhlman, a spokesman for GM's luxury brand, said Cadillac has been "actively engaging in settlement discussions," and that company officials were not notified about the suit.

"It was an honest mistake that we have attempted to reasonably resolve for the past year, however the settlement expectation of Mr. Brady's agents has been unreasonable," Kuhlman said.

People whose lives are destroyed by defective products or negligent doctors should have their awards capped according to Bush, but Brady's lawsuit is okey-dokey.
