Just when I thought I'd gotten rid of the ants...
I watered my african violets and this mass exodus of the boogers covered my countertop. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAgggggggggggggghhhhhhhhh!

I sprayed the plants with this orange oil based insecticide. Will it help? I hate to chuck the plants!

Get the Raid baits
Edited on Wed Jan-26-05 05:35 PM by DeposeTheBoyKing
The very best ones have see-through tops - the ants seem to LOVE the bait in those. Good luck!

7. I put little decorative soaps on my counters and it truly does work.
Good luck. I don't really care for ants. I'd say I hate them, but my New Year's Resolution is to reserve that word for the Bush Admin. :hi:

8. We had problems with ants where I worked
the orange oil base does work. Try some bleach near the area without it getting on your plants, also try white vinegar.

13. I think they must be nesting in the soil of the plants
because they swarmed all over the place (including my person!) when I watered them. They seemed to come from nowhere.

11. Top secret (not really) ant spray recipe
Allright, you need a spray bottle, some water, Dr. Bronner's pepper mint soap and tabasco sauce. Pour about an inch of the Dr. B's into the base of the bottle,, add about 20 drops of tobasco (I use the habanero variety because I'm mean) and then fill the bottle up the rest of the way with water. Put the spray bottle on and shake it a bit to mix it all up.

Should keep the ants out of the house when you use it near doors and other entries. No advice for getting them out of the plants, I kill plants just by looking at them funny.

16. peppermint
plant peppermint ...in a pot...place near your violets

plant peppermint in your yard, near doors and windows...

ants hate peppermint and will avoid the area
