It seems to me that Steinbrenner thinks a big aquisation every year will make the team win the world series. Well since 2000, it has't. The Yankee teams of the late 90's while they were a high payroll were filled with many people the Yankees developed on their own and didn't spend buttloads of money. Personally, I'd love to see the Yankees get off to their worst start ever, I think the Orioles can take advantage of that and get in 2nd place early, and hell maybe even first. Then again, I am an admitted idealist. I do think the Yanks get players they don't need often, and dismantle their farm system to do so.
