Does living in the williwacks scare you? |
|
We live on 50 acres in a remote part of Maine. (Yeah that part of Maine where north of us there are no towns who have a name, just TR 17.) And we live on a dead end road and have no neighbors which we can see. My city brother-in-law came up to visit and had a Blair Witch Project moment and got really freaked out. Would this scare you?

1. My mom's place is like that. |
|
I was there once for Christmas, there was a big storm and the power went out. I had to run out to the shed at night. The stars were just incredible, very cold and overpowering, very Lovecraftian. Anyway, I'm walking through the large yard with nothing but starlight to guide me. Then something low and fast comes rushing past me, faster than I can even think to react, it was gone again.
Damn dogs.

4. You know in the 20 years we have lived here |
|
We only had one power outage. Seems like your experience to the shed was memorable :)

at my aunt's ranch. The sky is sooooo big in the country isn't it. I think Stephen King has weirded out people for Maine.

without seeing a different view of the sky, In fact I have seen it rain on one side of the house and you could tan on the other.
Your right about Mr. King. Have been to his house for cocktails, he loves to razz on the Maine experience.

Taking our the trash in your underwear, no curtains, plenty of wildlife. Our view of the mountains is also incredible. But it is somewhat creepy to some.

I guess it could be creepy at times. |
|
But I wouldn't mind that so much. I could use the inspiration, actually. :)

6. Freaks me out more in the US than in other countries |
|
And my fear is of people, not wilderness. I was fine three hours off-road from any town or light in Chile. Here I figure I would be in the midst of "Deliverance". This is totally irrational--I mean, there are REALLY dangerous effed-up people in that part of Chile!--but it's how I feel.
I guess if I was killed by American, rather than foreign, idiots, it would feel more like losing my whole life's battle.

You would be so creeped out by my neighbors. They buy a trailer, a Domerman, a Dish Tv system and a No Trespassing Sign. Three years later they get their septic system put in and after another two years, they get their well dug. Have you been spying on me?
