When did you fall in love with....the one you're in love with?
Edited on Wed Jan-26-05 07:36 PM by terrya
For me...I found myself hitting it off with Doug when I met him online. I found myself liking him more when we exchanged emails and phone calls. And I fell in love when I laid eyes on him in person.

You? :-)

5. Yahootie!!
Our first date was January 7, 1994 (not me and flamingyouth; me and my husband!) I think I fell in love with him a week later and have never fallen out!

7. When I heard him sing a beautiful new song he had just written
I had had a wee crush on him but when I heard this beautiful song I really fell.

it was still a few years before we actually got together and sealed the deal.

He is an amazing songwriter and I can't get enough of his songs. :loveya:

25. During my first conversation with my wife, mid July 1981.
We were taking a summer class together, and I tried to sit near her so I could meet her. Our class was forming groups and I managed to get her in mine.

We talked for a while, during a class break, and I remember thinking, "I'm going to marry this woman some day." I asked her out and she told me she couldn't go out with me because of her boyfriend, a physics graduate student, was coming back from some conference.

I had to wait a few years through a few boyfriends, but eventually we became close friends, then also lovers, then also husband and wife.

We've been together 20 years now, and I couldn't be happier. I remember meeting her like it was just a few hours ago.

15. Fernando...
"straight" married man at the time. But he confessed he was having "feelings" for me. He was smart, gorgeous, handsome, a beautiful person overall. But so out of reach--because he was married and had to question himself if he was gay or not---go figure. I miss him. Oh well..

17. Love is Mother Nature's biggest dirty trick.
It's sole purpose is to perpetuate the species, which is a necessary evil, I suppose, but in order to inforce it Mother Nature imbues us each with an inate feeling of inferiority so that we seek out someone else to validate our worth and acceptability and make us, for a little while at least, feel like we are worthwhile.

We fall in love not because of what it does for the other person, but because of how it makes US feel. Thus, having my fear that I am worthless temporarily relieved I feel good about MYSELF because I am in love. Thus "being in love" is ultimately a very selfish act, and "unconditional love" is an act of desperation.

And no, I am not a grouchy, lonely, malcontent. I love my children and my grandchildren, and my two cats, and my vegetable garden, and I am VERY happy and fulfilled and NOT a victim of that insidious mental disease called "being in love."

the Copa, the Copacabana to be exact....Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl...that was before the cellulite and saddle bags cut her career short...she had yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there (picture J-Lo in the green dress) She would merengue and do the cha-cha....damn she was hot...

23. opposite of you, it started when i laid eyes on him in person.
i looked into those big brown eyes and felt like i had known him forever. then, when he put his arms around me it was like i was "home".

and the first time he saw me from afar before we even talked, he told his roommate that he met the girl he was going to be with for the rest of his life (the roommate told me this).

i know, corny as hell. but it's true.

26. I knew my Doug was the one for me when I first saw him.
That was May 23, 1997. We were so right for each other right away that we were engaged in mid-June and married on August 23, exactly three months from the date we met.

But for me it was mostly when she was relaxed enough to reveal her sense of humor and fun. I started to realize then what a treasure she is.
