I want to thank every one who help me Monday night with my Teen

who was having a melt down over life. I have begun the process of taking her off her meds and have an appointment next Monday for a COME TO JESUS meeting with her shrink. I have talk to the pharmacist and have begun the weening process and she is okay with that. We are dumping 2 of the drugs and will let the family Doc supervise her meds from now on. I should have done it long ago. No kid should be that medicated. I think the shrink needs a shrink. I know she will be short one patient Monday afternoon Thanks All!!!
edit. I had her to her counsillor yesterday for an emergency visit and she agreed with me to many meds

1. Oh My!

You have my sympathy. I had an out of control teenage son at home -- they kept putting him on one medication after the other. I ended up sending him to his dads....long story short....he was just released from an adolescent treatment center where he spent six months...he is on NO medications and hasn't been for three months and just entered a six month youth challenge program in New Mexico. Makes me sick to think of all the medications that kid was on over the years.

2. Mine has been on them since Nov. 03

and this shrink, who I had misgivings about just keeps piling them on. She has a shady past herself and I can;t be at the appointments because of work. Well I'm taking off half a day to go and believe me I will make it more than worth my while. I have called every time because there has be an increase in the drugs and news ones added. I am just totally pissed about it. Thanks for the kind words too

I wanted to mention a book called "The Optimistic Child" by Martin Seligman?

It is a guide to help parents "guide" the way their kids think, and help them in a cognitive manner. The book can sound a tad "anti-liberal" but if you ignore some of the rhetoric, you'll find the info can be very valuable. I'm actually in the middle of it now and I think it's going to be helpful.
