you are on your computer right now probably means it is not ruptured. :)

Once it's ruptured the intense pain goes away.
That means you get to the hospital ASAP!!! If your appendix has ruptured, you're spilling foul infected pus all over your insides. Not a good thing, to say the least.

How do you know your appendix is rupturing?
I get this pain in my side, slowly very slowly getting worse. It's on my right side.

especially on the lower right side. May or may not be accompanied by a moderate fever (102 ish).

5. Press on the lower right area of your abdomen. |
|
If you scream and pass out from the pain, you have a ruptured appendix.
If it just hurts like hell, then you have an inflamed appendix.

6. Pain usually starts in the middle of the abdomen and then |
|
transfers to the lower right quadrant. It becomes more and more painful up until the point where it is almost unbearable. Go to the emergency room - it can be very dangerous and even fatal if it is ruptured and goes untreated.
Trust your judgement, but I called a friend in the medical profession who said that it was probably just "gas pains" and to take some antacids and go to bed. I was vomiting because of the severe pain and decided to ignore her opinion and go to the emergency room.
I ended up having an emergency appendectomy at about 7 am that morning and spent two days in the hospital. Don't try to tough it out - if the pain continues to get worse, go to a hospital at once.

7. It's lower right quadrant pain |
|
I have not had a burst appendix, but I have had an intestinal blockage. Very similar intense pain that makes you pass out. If you put pressure on the area and release it, there is more pain upon release, sometimes. If you think you have appendicitis, or severe abdominal pain, go to the ER. Before the mods lock the thread.:scared:

8. Actually after it ruptures you will have less pain |
|
at least for a while. Then the fever will probably go way up. If you suspect appendix go now to the hospital that is not something to mess with. I could tell you a horrible story you don't want to hear about my best friends Husband
