I'll pray/meditate/think good thoughts for them...
But if you're like me, and over 34, you should be fine...

16. I was thinking about serving on the draft board |
|
I have no idea how someone is selected or what they would do if someone on the draft board excused everyone they could find any small reason to let go. Surely they must have some way of preventing pascifists to get on the draft boards.

No Going to happen. * is going to make his "graceful" exit from Iraq as soon as possible after the election (leaving a big mess behind) and there will be little need for a draft.

14. Iraq hasn't gone as planned |
|
The Iraqi war has been a mess. Bush realizes that and if Bush doesn't realize that fact, people in his administration know how bad the Iraq situation is and how little support it has among the American people.
Like someone else stated here, Bush is liable to pull up stakes after the Iraqi election. Bush will bluster, bully and threaten action but I would be surprised if America gets into another war while Bush is President. Bush and the Neo-Cons know that America wouldn't support another war.
That's the way I see it but then again maybe I'm just optimist.

17. Another thought occurred to me |
|
It seems like W.Bush's presidential career has been an attempt to out do his father. Big Bush didn't invade Iraq and take out Saddam Hussein and didn't win a second term. Little Bush has done those things so maybe he will be satisfied with his "accomplishments" up to now.

of Iraq does not come to be (one can always hope), I sincerely doubt a draft will happen. Nothing to base it on, but a gut feeling.

years to my knowledge. The county reappointments are made every Dec. and they are never listed. They would announce even reappointments to an idle board

I am in denial, but I seriously doubt it will happen. I have two draft age daughters and no one will be safe if a draft does come along. I served in Desert Storm and I do not want anything even remotely close to that for my girls.

I looked at the Selective Service web-site, and foreigners need to be registered. It actually says that illegal aliens are included, I nearly fell of my seat laughing at that one.

I don't know if they will have to institute an actual draft. If they keep fucking the working folks economy up and aiding and abetting mass outsourcing like they have been, they will in effect have a "Starvation Draft". Starve to death here or get killed in Iraq, take your pick.

Stuff like "These firemen were heroes on 9/11. But before that, they took an important step by registering with SS. As a male between 18-25, it is your duty, etc. Will you be there when your country needs you"

The Republicans will lose control of the Legislative and Executive branches for a fairly long period of time.
I don't think the Masters will let that happen.
