1. I know something lamer
but I'm not saying here for fear of offending people who's avatars meet the criterion I'm thinking about. If you want to know you can PM me

7. are you kidding?

I kinda hope you're not, because I had no clue that you were talking about my avatar when I posted that snarky reply to your post.

actually, that's a family picture, as well as a consumer goods logo

ironic, isn't it?

Edit: For the record, I don't own stock in the company and my Aunt hasn't gotten any money from them in 50 years. I genuinely think it's ironic, or post-modern or something to choose Miss Sunbeam as my avatar. Every couple of weeks I have to explain it, but, I can't think of anything better (or more personal, if you believe that) to replace it.

4. It's kinda like having an 8x10 glossy of yourself on your own desk
imo.

(But in some cultures, I hear that's okay....although I'll never understand it)

13. hehe...I thought of that
I put my pic on my avatar for a bit too...at first I thought it was cool, but I decided against it a couple of days later. No one commented about it. I was wondering what other people thought.

To each his own, I guess.

16. I like to look at people when I am talking to them and vice versa...
An avatar is supposed to represent you...what better thing to represent you than a picture of yourself. I'm not exactly getting the whole "having an 8x10 picture of you on your desk", though. I most certainly am not a vain person and don't have my avatar as my picture for my OWN benefit. I do it so that people can put a face with a name and see me when they are "talking" to me.

But I guess in you guys case, this makes me lame.

Always,

The Lame One
Shananigans

20. Never! It was a legitimate question...
This thread is lowering my self esteem as we speak. I don't know if I like knowing that people think I'm lame. :(

Then again, if they had asked I probably could have filled them in... ;)

21. Oh boy...If a thread can lower your self esteem
then I can't imagine what something tangible could do. :eyes: ;)

I don't mind myself if someone puts their picture on their avatar. I just kind of thought that people would think it was lame. I suppose I am letting public opinion control me...

as avatars or in their signatures, because I like to see who I'm talking to.

There will always be people who find fault in something you do. If you enjoy having your picture in your avatar, then do it.

22. I See Nothing Wrong With It
My avatar is a picture taken of me on October of 1991, at a Halloween Dance in Saddle Brook, NJ. It was the night that The Princess and I first met, so that picture has special meaning to me.

And isn't that what an avatar is supposed to be? Something that has a special meaning to the person using it?

with other posters.

I know I'm constantly being mistaken for all my clone wineglasses.
