McKinley beats William Jennings Bryan, who carries only rural New England and most of the Midwest.

Only Arizona wasn't admitted yet, just a territory.

but it was wrong. 1944

on edit: being from Kansas you remember the blue years.

on second edit: oops. 1948 was the headline but I stick with 1944 because I know it was Dewey. I think Landon's run was in 1940 and Dewey had two bites after that.

28. As the picture was loading
the bar at the bottom of I.E. gave the filename as ending "electionmap-1944.gif" which I found a tad of a give-away.
