14. I figured there HAD to be a worse show than "Dukes Of Hazzard" in the
late 70's, so I did an extensive search of disco era schmaltz TV:

....You're right

15. I watched the Dukes growing up
And still catch the odd rerun while channel surfing.
It's nostalgia for me, but I'll admit the plots were thinner than Daisy's cotton top.
The worst show of the late 70s for me was Dallas.
It was on at the same time as the Dukes - Fri. nights and on the only other channel we got. My mom was a big fan.
Every second week I'd have to watch The Dukes on the little B&W TV upstairs.

27. Every kid I babysat for loved that show, and they had to go to bed after
then I watched Dallas and Falcon Crest.

I didn't like the show, but I did think Bo and Luke were cute, so I could tolerate it. What bugged me was that they used the same footage over and over again in the chase scenes.

Why did Boss Hogg hate those Dukes so much, anyways? He must have hated them for their freedom.

16. Oh come on! I loved that show!
I think I only saw it in syndication when I was in my early teens. That's the right age you have to be to really enjoy that show. I can still sing the theme song with all the words.

22. I second that
I have the two D.V.D.s of the D.o.H. (only ones out in the U.K.), mainly for the guys.

The other point is that it's just feel-good television. Nothing to challenging, just two good of boys &c. One can happily doze off with it playing knowing that in the end all will be well; despite the fact that Hazzard County police must have the biggest car-repair bill in the entire U.S.

20. Late 70s really-bad TV? How about "Hello, Larry" and "C.P.O. Sharkey?"
There's a ton of dreck to choose from during that era, but those two stellar programs came quickly to mind, sad to say.

24. Welcome Back Kotter
It's a takedown on all counts:

Boss Hogg vs. that vice principal guy
25-year old actors in a high school classroom vs. cops and muscle cars.
Launchpad for former Dem. Congressman Ben Jones vs. launchpad for John Travolta to look like more of a serious actor in Saturday Night Fever.
Daisy vs. the chick who married Horshack.

29. "The Captain and Tennille Show" "The Starland Vocal Band Show"
Edited on Thu Jan-27-05 09:30 AM by terrya
to name two.

There was this most unfortnate trend in the 1970's for the networks to give musical groups their own variety shows...whether they had comedy talent or not. Probably "Pink Lady and Jeff" was the worst of them.

My love for reading was blossoming at about the same time. :D

p.s. I did catch a part of it, once, and I swear that mumbling guy was cussing and slipping it past the censors. }(
