What's the most ridiculous thing (besides the obvious of "I'm voting for Bush) that you've heard come out of the mouth of a repuke that you were acquainted with?

Prior to knowing about repukes the way I do now, I didn't know their 'ideology' or 'key issues' for them. All the tell tale signs were there, but this one kind of threw me for a loop.

Anyway, the people we once thought of as friends, had shared they were going to decorate their kids rooms with a Harry Potter theme. Dh had just read the book and was excited--he inquired what they had as he wanted to get them some items, too(He loved the book). We were bluntly informed that they were no longer going to be doing that.

Dh and I exchanged confused glances.

They explained that they had read the book. We were still confused. They went on to say, "you know--they drink Unicorn's blood in the book. We just can't have our kids with that kind of stuff in their room. My brother bought his kid a poster. We have morals, we just don't want that kind of thing in our house."

I was stunned. The same people that tell their kids about Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, couldn't muster up enough left brain momentum to realize the book is FANTASY. Thus developing IMAGINATION in children. I feel my story exemplifies why creativity, imagination, initiative and free thinking is so lacking on the right.

I felt so sorry for their children, after this.

Thankfully soon after, dh and I parted ways with these folks.

Anyone else have a story that shows the beginning of the end of your relationship with a right winger? Or just a story that made you ask 'what the hell is wrong with these people?'
