Oh goody. The Swedish Bikini Team is coming back.
Swedish Bikini Team Revived For Ailing Brand

(ADWEEK) The Swedish Bikini Team is back. Two of them, in fact.

In one corner is the Old Milwaukee Bikini Team, revived from a 1990s TV campaign created by Hal Riney & Partners of San Francisco that spawned lawsuits and protests by feminists while boosting sales among young men.

In the other corner is a Swedish Bikini Team trademarked by Los Angeles producer Ron Bryan, who plans to release movies and sell products featuring the blond bombshells. Bryan says he secured the trademark while Old Milwaukee's previous parent, Stroh Brewing, was backing away from the idea.

Now operating as part of San Antonio, Texas-based Pabst Brewing, Old Milwaukee is repositioning itself as OM and using its updated "team" for in-store and Web promotions. No TV is planned. The idea of a revival came from OM's ad shop, Object 9 of Baton Rouge, La. OM still uses the tagline that accompanied the original spots: "It doesn't get any better than this."

Renaming Old Milwaukee "OM". Since they're using the Bikini Team, shouldn't they go all the way and call it "BM"?

1. Why don't we just rename them "BIMBOS"??
As if we need to see more long-haired, big-boobed airheads. Sheesh.

2. Yeah!
Nothing more stupid than women with long hair and a greater than average amount of tissue in their mammary glands. If they are of a Scandinavian heritage, you can drop a few more IQ points as well.

Excellent observation. You nailed it!

3. Tissue or silicon?
Actually, I think most of them wore wigs and weren't Swedish.

7. I resemble those remarks!
Seriously, there are women who have long hair due to personal preference and an abundance of mammary tissue due to genetics that have more than air between their ears. After all, I'm sitting here reading DU same as all of you incredibly intelligent, short-haired, differently-endowed women, and all of you incredibly intelligent guys of every description. Aside from the assumptions regarding mental capacities based on physical attributes (gee, where have I run into that notion before? Oh yeah, when it's about skin color it's called racism), the real problem here is thingification of human beings both male and female to sell us stuff we don't need!

And there's that wholesale insult to Scandinavians!

9. I resemble them as well.
I hope you saw the sarcasm under my remark. It gets absolutely tedious seeing this attitude over and over and over on here. :eyes:

16. You're right--
I missed the sarcasm, although it might help if I was psychic.
If by "this attitude" you mean a) the treatment of women as objects on DU, yeah, I've noticed it alot. If you mean b) my hypersensitivity and lack of sarcasm detector on this subject, I refer you back to a) with my apologies.

17. I most definitely meant...
a) the treatment of women as objects on DU

You don't have to apologize. It's cool. Sometimes, it's hard to convey thoughts with only typed words as adequately as one would wish. I'm probably guilty of that here. :)

For me, I'm so NOT uptight, but there's certain things at times that cross a line and royally piss me off.

11. I think the moment they join the bikini team is the deal breaker
I sincerely hope no one with a masters degree joins that tour for a living.

But if you know any single women who LOOK like they should be on the Swedish Bikini team but are in fact very intelligent, it would be very nice of you to introduce me.

Well, it is Sweden...perhaps the Swedish Chef was thrown in to sweeten the deal.

10. Here in Texas...
They have the "Hill Country Bikini" team. They appear at a lot of motocycle rallies, MC (but never participate) wet t-shirt contests and do bikini car washes. Most of this they do to benefit Breast Cancer research.

14. I go to Bike Rallies often...
and one of the promoters (Cadillac Bob) puts on wet t-shirt contests. The proceeds go toward a scholarship fund for children of guys killed in motorcycle accidents. He calls the fund "Tits for Tuition." ;)
