XP startup. How do I tell what loads at startup on XP?

XP startup. How do I tell what loads at startup on XP?
I have the last remanants of a trojan on my maching, but when I follow Symantec's instructions, I can't find the virus and I can't find a registry key with the proper dll.

Help!!!!!

1. Download hijack this and run it
It will list everything that is starting when you boot and you can remove what is necessary from the list.

Also - believe it or not, the new MS anti-spyware utility actually works pretty well. I have it on a couple of test machines here at the office, and it's not a bad utility at all. It's successfully removed stuff that neither Ad-Aware nor Spybot could get rid of.

5. Well, how do you run it?
I thought I got it with Windows update, but I can't find it anywhere.

I'm going to try your other suggestions in a second. I might not respond right away as my office is in the basement and the kid is upstairs, so I can only run down here for a minute or two.

4. MSCONFIG
START->RUN->MSCONFIG ,,,to to startup and that will show what is starting up with XP

7. Not always, MSCONFIG doesn't display everything
That's why Hijack This is a much better utility to find hidden spyware type problems.
