My street is losing TWO Democratic families! TWO! |
|

One of them have their house up for sale. They are moving to Madison, Wisconsin. How jealous can I be? He got a job there after being laid off from EDS here. She's a freelance technical writer, so she can pretty much do her job anywhere.
They told us last night and looked all apologetic. She said "We're sorry, but, we just want to be happy...." I told her no worries, we understand. You gotta do what you gotta do.
The other family moved here from Chicago two years ago when his job moved him here. Well, now he has a chance to go back to Chicago and they are jumping at it. He said they haven't been happy here and can't wait to go back. One thing he said which really struck me: "The real estate's awfully cheap here, but it just doesn't make up for other things."
I knew what he meant.
We're feeling even more alone than ever.
Hey Mayberry, when can we get together with our spouses?????

1. You and Mr. Bouncy should move to Austin. |

I wish. Actually, Mr. Bouncy's boss has hinted around that he is thinking of opening up an Austin office (so far they have one in Dallas, San Antonio and Houston). I told Mr. Bouncy to ENCOURAGE him in that direction and encourage him to think about sending him down to start it up. Then maybe I could finish my masters or get a PhD at UT. We'd be near cool people like you and my best friends who live there.
I'd have to live on antihistamines (the cedar) but I don't care.

Memo to Mr. Bouncy's boss: OPEN THE DAMNED AUSTIN OFFICE UP ALREADY!!! Sheesh! I'm sorry, but sometimes you have to get rough...

I want to go up there and sweet talk his boss about this Austin office. They've got the money to do it, I know they do (it used to be my family's company). He's a tightwad and needs a bit of encouragement.

Move to that blue city just south of you.... you know... Dallas!
People who live north of Northwest Highway are schmucks, mostly. There ARE a *few* good ones. :D
We had over 100 Kerry signs in our neighborhood of 600 houses. :7

4. Dallas isn't south of me |
|
and if we moved anywhere in Texas, it'd be to Austin.
But I know what you mean, Dallas south of Northwest Highway IS an improvement over the burbs, no matter which side of Dallas they are on! LOL!
Wow, that's a shitload of Kerry signs.

Yep, put most of the yard signs up myself. Ahhhhh.... East Dallas, comfortable, diverse, vaguely decrepit, and Democratic. Fits like an old shoe. My neighborhood is so cool. Weird yard art in every yard, and I bike to the grocery store. :P

I heart East Dallas.
My stepdad grew up in Casa Linda, went to Bryan Adams HS. My mom grew up in another area (can't think of the neighborhood name) and went to W.W. Samuel HS.
I go to the Shakespeare in the Park series in Samuel Grand Park every summer. LOVE it. East Grand Avenue. Saw a car stolen at the Church's chicken right in front of us as we were sitting at a red light. LOL!

9. If and when we get a chance to go back home, we'll take it too. |
|
D passed one up last year, and I'm still bitter about it.

I can't take the cold, and I'd move to where you are from in a freaking HEARTBEAT.
I'm even more in love with it after seeing The Daily Show last night. Did you see it?

12. Then you know what it was about? |

Yeah, it was a good one! LOL! I fell in love with that area after reading about it. And hey, I can buy big warm coats, right?
I hope you and yours get to go back home soon...
