Did anyone receive the "Genius loves company" CD for Xmas?
I love this particular Ray Charles CD and the duets he sings with about a dozen other artists. I first listened to it w/o looking at the playlist and could easily pick out most of the invited singers, though I had missed Van Morrison, who doesn't sound as he did during my album years.

Favorite songs are w/Nora Jones, Natalie Cole, BB King and Bonnie Raitt, though I don't skip over any of the other selections--they're all superb.

3. His voice was better in his healthier days
but it doesn't detract from the quality of the work, imo. In fact, his voice on "genius" enhances the other artists' that much more, not that any of them needed enhancing. The CD starts out with Nora Jones--smooth light jazz sound. Then there's James Taylor, who's voice is unmistakeable, next Diana Krall, again, very smooth, and so forth.

6. I love it all
It is really hard to choose, but I do have a soft spot for "You don't know me"

What an incredible talent. This album is a gift to music fans everywhere.

5. My favorite CD...
I got it when it first came out, and it's still my favorite. He brings out the best of the best. I think that even Nora and Willie sound better when singing with him.
