. . . is that I generally go through the "Latest Discussion Threads" list from the top down, meaning that I keep posting responses to the second appearance of any topic. So I think I've said something brilliant and original -- but then when the threads get merged, I find that five other people said it before me, and that my post is down around number 40 and nobody has noticed it at all.
Very frustrating . . .
