Home Depot Death Race 2005: Today's Customer from Hell
Today I was working in the lumber aisle when a customer came up with a huge list of lumber he wanted to buy. No cart, and it wouldn't have all fit on one.

"No problem, sir, let me go get some carts and an assistant and we'll begin."

'No, don't do that.'

"Excuse me?"

'I pulled my truck around back. If you'll just open that door (points at the speed door on the back of the building), I'll drive my truck down the aisle and you can load it right into the back.'

(I looked out back. He really did this.)

We didn't let him. He left pissed.

1. My god, what an asshole
Had to show off his truck :eyes:

Probably nice and shiny with the wet-look tires, because he's never done any actual work with it

2. believe it or not lumber yards used to do this
you would just pull in tell them what you want and they would load you up. You paid the bill while they were loading. Home depot ran the last lumber yard out of town around here about 10 years ago.

The guy must have been living in a cave the last 10 or 15 years if he thought Home Depot was going to do this for him.

Local Ace Hdw. has a drive through "yard".

7. We do too.
Just one though and from the looks of things they are not going to be around for long. The lumber I bought was terrible but then again sometimes they see a girl coming and they think we won't know. I did and I returned it and they were not happy so perhaps they deserve to go out of business.

9. Some lumber yards still do this
In Fayetteville, Highland Lumber, Builder's Bargain Center, Builder's First Source, 84 Lumber and Parks Building Supply all have drive-through yards. I think Stock Building Supply has one too.

We, however, do not.

12. Actually,
Miller's Hardware in Harrison AR still has pull-through buildings where you drive in and get your supplies. I was glad because I'm not to lift anything over 50 lbs and I had to pick up some concrete mix for my husband.

3. Just curious: How come you didn't do that for him?

edit: Oops! Wait. I just re-read "drive it down the aisle". I thought he just wanted to load it up from the dock. Stupid asshole. Yeah, we want your truck driving down the aisle of a retail store!

10. It's a roll-up fabric door
It's called a speed door because it's 14 feet high and it takes three seconds to open it and four to close it.

11. Yup, I want to load lumber twice....
Screw Home Depot- I go to 84 lumber where you don't have to load your lumber in a cart, then load it in your truck.
