An Aston Martin DB4.

>> One of the 2005 auction headliners is a 1962 Aston Martin DB4 GT “Zagato” Coupe. One of only 19 ever built, this particular car is the 1962 Brands Hatch race winner, driven by sports car legend Roy Salvadori, who three years earlier won the 24 Hours of LeMans in another Aston Martin with Carroll Shelby.

Built by famed Italian coachbuilder Zagato, this car has many features specially requested by its original owner, including thicker gauge alloy panels, chromed brightwork, and glass in place of the traditional Perspex windows. It also sports a unique grille configuration and late DB4-style rear lights. Chassis #DB4 GT, Serial #0190/L has a pre-auction estimate of between $2,500,000 and $2,800,000.<<

Okay, for $2,800,000 I can live the rest of my live without ever again being a wage slave.

2. Notice how proud they are to pay more than anyone else would..
Amazing that these numbnuts are so happy to pay more than anyone else would pay for some old car that they will never drive.

5. If I were a wealthy collector of rare, expensive somethings, I might
spend a lot of money on a prize piece also.

As it is, I am a not-wealthy collector of not-so-rare, semi-expensive things. People might not understand why I'd pay good money for an old radio.

I'm guessing someone who can afford 2.8 million for a collector's car doesn't have to worry about being a wage slave either.

9. I guess its because I can never understand why rich folks are so
Stupid

The goddamned thing is obviously overpriced.

Why pay all of that money for an old used car when you can get a much neater, brand spanking new V-12 Vanquish for a lot less that one tenth of the price.

And this puppy still has Bond written all over it

10. Because it's not buying "a car", it's buying a collector's item,

and an investment. And, I'm sure, a shitload of ego gratification - but that's what all collecting of things is about.

That V12 you posted isn't worth 2.5 million. It won't be worth 3.5 million in ten years.

The antique astin martin will.

What's it matter whether the dude invests 2.5 million in a car, or invests 2.5 million in stocks? Or Bonds? Or artwork? Or faberge eggs?
