Jergens Ultra Healing Extra Dry Skin Moisturizer |
|
(That is its real name, verbatim)
This stuff kicks ass! Took the complimentary mini-sized version of it from my hotel room last week... and I gotta say, this stuff will moisturize your bone marrow! :D

4. I have never tried that |
|
I have used the Vaseline Aloe Lotion, which I never even needed until I moved from a damp climate to a much drier one (and a very high altitude too). Thanks for the recommendation!

6. I love the Jergens regular with the cherry almond scent. It was off the |
|
market for awhile. It's a scent from my childhood...much missed. I found a huge, no enormous, tub of it the other day and bought it to put next to the sink. Now my days are filled with sweet cherry almond happiness. :hi:

Childhood scents can be evocative. And a mixed bag. I remember the scent of Vicks Vapo-Rub easily, but am not eager to re-live it. :hi:

33. Yum! Sounds good enough to eat. |
|
Over the holidays, BBW had a vanilla-something-or-other scent that smelled just like buttercream frosting. I couldn't buy it! I'd have been too tempted to eat it.

Works good on sensitive skin that gets red and splotchy from the unrefined lanolin in most lotions. Either that or pure Shea Butter when I feel like spending the $$$.

I don't know half this stuff. When I had extremely dry elbows, some Cornhusker's Lotion worked beautifully, but I didn't like it elsewhere because of the medicinal scent. :-)

13. Explore plant-based moisturizers |
|
Jergens and most of the other commercial stuff is made with mineral oil and petroleum jelly. These products are made from petroleum. Yes, they are plant-based from way back, but in the meantime they've become kind of nasty things to put on your skin.
Try shea butter, cocoa butter, and almost any kind of plant oil, including olive, almond, apricot kernel, jojoba, avocado, grape seed, etc.
Try making your own bath oil by mixing a few drops of essential oil with a couple tablespoons of grape seed oil.
Look in the DU group on Crafts to find recipes for making your own healthy hand salve.

|
Edited on Thu Jan-27-05 10:12 PM by ZombyWoof
It smelled good, and it felt nice... but it didn't work well. Definitely a good natural product, and I regret it wasn't for me.
Luckily, there is no shortage of choices. I'll keep those in mind!

It's for faces, but I use it on my hands. It comes in a little green pot with a purple lid. Health food stores should have it.

Gold Bond Ultimate Healing Skin Therapy Lotion
This stuff is AMAZING! Utterly fantastic. I just got it for the first time at Christmas- I have used every conceivable lotion up until this time. Jergens, Vaseline, Kiehls, Queen Helenes, Nivea, Cetaphil, Body Butters, things from Crabtree & Evelyn, Bath & Body Works, Berts Bees, Kiss My Face... You name it, I had tried it.
This delivers in a way no other lotion has. I highly recommend it!
Worth every cent of the $7.99 for the pump bottle
