Tsunami song sinks hip-hop HOT 97 show
This is sick.....

<snip
Miss Jones' real name is Tasha Nicole Jones.

The Miss Jones morning show on hip-hop radio station Hot-97 has been yanked off the air amid growing outrage over a twisted tsunami parody song even the boss called "indefensible."
Emmis Radio, which owns Hot-97 (WQHT), said yesterday Jones, whose real name is Tasha Nicole Jones, and her team have been "indefinitely suspended," an action critics called belated and insufficient. > snip

1. WARNING* Lyrics, not for the weak stomach
..All at once you could hear the screaming ch*nks and no one was safe from the wave there were africans drowning, little chinamen swept away you could hear god laughing, "swim you b*tches swim"
So now you're screwed, it's the Tsunami
you better run or kiss your ass away, go find your mommy
I just saw her float by, a tree went through her head
and now the children will be sold to child slavery...

5. It just boggles my mind that 1) this was even made
and 2) it was actually played...and played a number of times.

Even if it slipped onto the air once, you'd think the management and owners would yank it immediately.

What the hell is wrong with people?

6. The president of the station lame ass statement.
<<<Emmis Radio and Hot-97 will not tolerate such derogatory and racially insensitive comment," said yesterday's Emmis statement. "The station has a longtime reputation for community involvement and support."

Emmis Radio President Rick Cummings called it "morally and socially indefensible. All involved, myself included, are ashamed and deeply sorry.">>>

Get real pal, that damn song was played over and over on your station. Don't try and act so shocked!

7. I agree. I heard the song on the Internet
and couldn't believe no one stopped it after it playing one time. I went to their website after I heard it and saw them saying our sponsors knew nothing about it. Please don't blame them. Still more concerned with advertising dollars than anything else.

12. Was it on the station's webstie?
If so, their President is more asleep at the wheel than Chimpy in August 2001.

11. Exactly!
As the old cliche goes, there's no such thing as bad publicity. At the expense of some staff, his station now gets a ton of notoriety.

8. Chinamen??
I don't believe there were any Chinamen in the path of this particular tsunami. Thousands upon thousands of Indians, Singhalese, Tamils, Acehnese, to be sure -- but Chinamen?

Oh, wait, I'm expecting crude bigots to have at least a thumbnail grasp of geography. Bad KamaAina :spank:

13. Well as Margret Cho once said:
"I was playing this club one time and this guy called me a 'chink'. I looked at him and said, 'A chink is a Chinese person, I'm Koren, I'm a 'gook'. Go read your 'Redneck to English' dictonary!"

23. Other than a very few in Somalia and Kenya
that was one mean mofo of a tsunami; it struck eleven countries, two in Africa (none in China).

14. Not only is it insulting and cruel, it's not even decent writing.
Tsunami and mommy? They should be fired just for that.

What the fuck is wrong with people?

10. They should be fired.
There's no question.

Certainly there should be lots of room for tasteless and crude humor, but these people are professionals and should have a better feel for where the line is. I can't imagine that the people that put it together didn't stop and think for a second about what they were doing... it just boggles the mind. They went so far over the line... there's no excuse for this at all.

19. Emmis Radio should fire her boss due to the fact he allowed it to
play at all. And who wrote the song? Who's the sick fuck who sat down and spent time putting those twisted mentally ill words on paper and added music to them? That person is the sickest of the whole lot. I'd expect this from a right wing idiot like Farwell, but not a New Yorker. There's no excuses here. It's as tasteless as Bush's WMD joke looking under couches.

This is the era of bad taste. The 21st century is looking a lot like the Stone Age.
