Any iPod Owners Out There? |
|
Edited on Fri Jan-28-05 02:24 PM by FlashHarry
My wife got me an iPod for my birthday--a 20GB model. I've got more than 2,000 songs on it and it isn't even half full. I'm only just coming to terms with the realization that I have access to most of my CD library in the palm of my hand. Kudos to Steve Jobs.
I know that, due to compression factors, the audio ain't exactly hi-fi, but it's a helluva thing, nonetheless.
Who else has taken the plunge?

I love mine and another DU're told me about the griffin itrip, it's wireless so you can use right in your car without having an mp3 port in your car stereo.

I've had a little trouble dialling in the right frequencies. I still get static now and then, but it's pretty cool. I wish I had an aux. input on my car stereo.

7. I have, right here. If you have the space, don't compress... |
|
It will greatly increase the sound quality. But I have to tell you, the sound in many cases, depending on how your are listening to it (headphones, or car stereo, or through your regular stereo) is great. Unless you are a major league hi-fi audiophile, you won't notice the difference from cd quality.
Have you ripped the songs from your own cd's? If so use a higher compression (160 or 192) in the M4A format rather than mp3.
I love mine and am addicted. I got my wife a mini and she was skeptical but now loves it.

Most of my songs are from my own collection. Some were downloaded during the halcyon days of Napster. Some were, ahem, borrowed via LimeWire fairly recently.

10. Crap. I guess I should rip them to AAC instead of MP3. |
|
I did a little Googling and found out that many people say the AAC compression format is "better" than MP3, plus iTunes' MP3 encoder isn't very good, apparently. Guess I've got some re-ripping to do...

Check out the iPod shuffle now! Cheap and amazing!
I have the 3G 10-gig one, but 18 gigs of tunes on my computer... I have it set to be filled with random songs, then I just listen to it on shuffle.

14. Have you seen P. Diddy's IPod? |
|
It is pretty nasty encrusted with diamonds and all.
His was by HP though, anyone know how that works? Why on earth did Apple allow HP to make them as well?

15. HP makes the hard drive |
|
As far as I know--which, truthfully, isn't very far :)--that is the only difference.
I have a 4thGen 40 gig model ... absolutely love it! I hate when I have to drive any where and forget to grab it and have to listen to commercials--argh!--and Linkin Park--argh!
BTW, www.allofmp3.com is a great LEGAL site for cheap mp3s. I've used it for a couple of months with no trouble ... you can pay via PayPal.
