Are people who make packaging sadists? |
|
Seriously. First there's that shrink-wrapped plastic stuff that requires a chainsaw to open. Don't get me started on CD packages....
but I just received a package. I opened the box, and inside is some molded faux-styrofoam surrounding the contents. I try to slide it out. No can do. I try to pull, and with the slightest bit of pressure, the "styrofoam" crumbles into a million little particles. Little styro-beads. That fly everywhere. And somehow picked up a static charge that makes them stick to EVERYTHING.
It's interesting material. I'm sure there are uses for it. BUT NOT IN PACKAGING!!!!!
I'm still finding little styrobloblets everywhere.

1. Have you bought any toys lately? Everything is now STRAPPED down |
|
to either the cardboard box and/or the plastic sleeve that's INSIDE the cardboard box. The other day I tried to take a toy out of it's box and the black plastic that was molded around it, but they had also ran black wire ties around it through the black plastic mold! You couldn't even see the damn things and there had to be 8 of 'em. In some cases the wires go through the plastic mold, through a black plastic rectangular washer then the wires are twisted (not always in the same direction either!) and then they have clear packaging tape over them!
The lenght of time getting the thing out was twice as long as the toy held the kids interest!
I agree, there's definately some sort of evil packaging plan afoot.

I got a RoboSapiens for xmas. There were at least TEN twist-ties holding the thing down. It sorta scared me... like they were worried it would start walking on its own and commit crimes. I felt like I was untying Hannibal Lecter.

it took me 20 minutes to liberate it and her stuff from the package. I used scissors and tin snips and then i had a beer.

6. Funny you bring that up, I bought a "three" pack a week or so ago. |
|
Of course the fourth decided not to take the cahnce with getting juiced up and leaped right out of his barely there packing in the store.

12. And on top of all the tape and plastic and wires, doll's hair is often |
|
SEWN to the packaging.
I realize this all supposed to be "anti-theft" stuff, but come on! Anyone who wanted to steal the toy could just grab the package anyway.
It's as if they're hiding state secrets inside the toy packages!

I have been known to return things to the store when my vocabulary degenerates to a constant stream of swear words.
I tell the store that if they can open the package for me within a resonable amount of time, I will keep the product. If they can't, they get to refund my money.
I do the same thing with products that have nonremovable price stickers.
