The guy I worked with at my first newspaper gig in Alberta is leaving. We went to college, worked in Alberta, and then worked at papers in the Okanagan together. Now, he's moving to Korea. It's an odd feeling, kinda sucks really.

1. How long will he be in Korea?
A friend of mine from high school taught English there for a few years and loved it. Anyway, I'm sure he'll come back, then you'll get to have a welcome home beer with him. :)

ewww. No, my uncle was a missionary priest in Korea for many, many years. He loved it. The people were wonderful. Their past governments, not so good.

It is always weird when someone you know well moves that far away though.

4. Tell him he has GOT to visit Cheju-do
It's this really nice resort island just off the southern tip of the Korean peninsula. (It's also where the Soju plant is. http://www.jinro.co.kr/english/product/02.asp will tell you all about it--and sadly, the Combat Bottle and the Soju Twitch are things of the past, for now Soju is a refined and delicate spirit that contains no formaldehyde.)

He also needs to go to Pusan--which is, for my money, the nicest city on the Korean mainland.
