Would you report a fish that wasn't properly cared for?

I know of a place with a fish in it's tank not being cared for at all. No new water, no food, no filter, nothing to sustain life. They are bottom feeders and haven't die yet. Should I report it to a animal cruelty agency? It has been living this way for months.

Should we call the bacteria police because someone cleans out an oil storage tank and all the bacteria who live on the oil sludge are killed? I think not! :shrug:

fish are living creatures that feel pain. Fish are companion animals that need to be properly cared for. Now if someone cleans out an oil storage tank and dumps it into a river? then yes, call the bacteria police, aka the EPA

4. I am an SPCA enforcement officer.

We are totally complaint driven. If you don't report it we probably don't know about it. Make the call. When we put a fence around cattle, tie a dog to a tree or put a fish in a tank we accept responsibility for that animals' well-being.

I am not real good at scripture, but in the Bible God repeatedly punishes rulers who fail their people. So if you fail to properly take care of your animals, it is a sin.

I've got a few questions about this fish and tank.

How big is the tank? How often do you see the fish and do you know what kind it is? Is the water clear, cloudy, green or brownish?

Maybe you could ask for the fish and let them go in the wild, in a lake or stream. They might get eaten but at least they would be living a natural life.

They may harbor some disease that the native fish are not immune to and decimate the population. There are laws against releasing non-native species.

These are all of the non-native fish that have established themselves in Florida over the years--from people releasing them in the wild. Thirteen of the top fifteen in the "reproducing populations" list are all South American cichlids.

Numbers 18 through 20 are Loricariid catfish--plecos--that are commercially bred in ponds in Florida, and which got moved from pond to waterway during one of the numerous hurricanes they have down there.

The Mother of Snails catfish should only be sold to people who have a license for it. This is a dangerous fish because of the scutes. These large bony growths run down both sides of the fish, they are razor sharp and this animal grows to three feet in length--and as with most large catfish, it can be quick when the mood strikes. In short, this fish can fuck you up. It is a snail-eating cat that will also take smaller fishes.
