MP3 player question

I recently bought a Sandisk 256 MB MP3 player. When I add files with Music Match or Windows Media Player, I find it does not allow me to completely fill up all the space (something like 242 MB). It leaves about 22 MB (enough for a few songs at the lowest quality). I want to put as much as I can on it; is there a way to get around this problem? There doesn't seem to be any answers on the Sandisk website. I mostly bought this one because it was cheap and I wanted something small so I could workout. It works well enough.
