1. Both bands became terribly commercial |
|
I have seen both bands live, and I would give Journey the edge, in that their shows were better.

3. A black hole of suckitude! |
|
Listing those bands together creates a mass of suck so powerful light itself can't escape.
The two worst bands ever. There are none suckier! They suck, suck, suck, suck, suck, suck, suck, suck, suck, suck, suck, suck, suck!
Did I mention they suck?

If those are the choices, I'm going to need a .45 ACP. Through the roof of the mouth. Make it quick, please.

7. Styx for their seventies work |
|
I like Journey at their early-eighties commercial peak more than Styx at theirs, but the powers of Crystal Ball, The Grand Illusion, and Pieces of Eight combined gives Styx the edge.

8. Styx: Personal Favorite Behind the Music episode |
|
Edited on Sat Jan-29-05 04:36 AM by Strawman
The tension between the rockers in the band and Dennis DeYoung in that episode of BTM is just absolutely classic. When I saw the footage of them performing the play version of Mr. Roboto (no music for 15 minutes) on stage in front of a bunch of Nuge fans at the fucking Cotton Bowl, I just about pissed myself. Dennis DeYoung (and probably his wife) getting the rest of the guys to reluctantly go along with that and it blowing up in their faces is like the Signs of the Zodiac costumes idea that David St. Hubbins and Jeanine try to get the band to go along with in Spinal Tap. The mulletheads in the band just wanna rock and Dennis DeYoung wants to perform Broadway show tunes with an orchestra or some shit all the time. Seeing the rest of the bands reaction to him backing out of a huge reunion tour because of "light sensitivity" is also classic. Yet through it all they still seemed like brothers or something. I was never really a Styx fan, but was rooting for them to work it out and get back together.

I admit it. I have the worst taste in music (especially for a 24 year old).
