Never enjoyed Blue Cheer. But I have a friend who is a music snob, and they are his favorite band. Go figure. He doesn't seem to be insane...

8. I saw them at the Avalon. They were so intense. Some SF string |
|
band opened for them. Then they came up with their wall-of-sound metal deal and blew everybody away. It was great. I know I saw the Elevators, I'm positive I did, but I can't f'ing remember where. Well, I guess that means I was there!
Rock on!

but I have to go with The Elevators on this one. It's true that there ain't no cure for the summertime blues, but for me at least the Sunshines Yellower on an elevator in the acid of the electric Twilight Zone. It's a journey that is ultimately not of sight or of sound but of mind. Many thanks to Rod and Rocky for lots of freaky thoughts and experiences!

11. Never heard of the 13th Floor Elevators |
|
Which I will admit makes me one of the totally clueless.
On the other hand, Blue Cheer is one of the finest garage bands to hit the big time. Blue Cheer gives hope to people who have no musical talent (like me) that they too can become rock stars.

12. Welcome to DU, GreenDay!!! |
|
13th Floor Elevators, the definitive acid band. There were others, to be sure, but these guys were well beyond "far out." Rock on!
