2. Simpsons is so much more clever
and funny.
Family Guy irritates me half the time I try watching it.

3. Family Guy can't touch the first seven or so seasons of the Simpsons
And Family Guy can be much more funny at times--it just doesn't have the same magic.

4. Two totally different concepts
I think it is pretty hard to create any sort of co-relation between these two series. Both are brilliant, in my opinion, but both are so different from one another, I fail to see a reason to pit them against one another.

To me, the Simpson's is just great comedy writing that resonates completely with my way of thinking, whereas The Family Guy is funny and all, but in some sort of post-modernist way that I don't fully get, which perhaps has something to do with my age or something, i dunno...

It's kind of like comparing the a Woody Allen comedy to Napoleon Dynamite. or not.

5. Simpsons in its heyday? Hands down Simpsons.
Family Guy is great, but...it's not as fresh as Simpsons was at its peak. Family Guy has ripped off many many scenarios and plot points. Not only off the Simpsons, but also off the Critic which was created by the same guy.
